In 1982 Per und Turid Gammelsaeter bought the small farm Fugelko in Hurum,
not far from the southern gates of Oslo. On the small opening there was an old farmer’s residence and a few sheds dating back to the late 19th century. Apart from this there was forest as far as the eye could see.

The centre point of the new house was the spacious hall, from which branched off the kitchen to the right and the living area to the left. The centrally positioned stair case connects the different planes of the upper storeys where there are the parental bedroom, childrens and guest rooms. Through its lively internal differentiation the house mirrors back the different life styles of its occupants, their awareness of each other and of untouched nature.
